This 2-disc DVD set is a video diary of a bird watching holiday in China taken May 2nd -21st 2006. The tour leaders were Tony Marr and Mark Andrews, ably assisted by Jean Wang. There were 29 participants, 3 of whom were from Belgium, the others from the U.K.
The holiday was designed to maximise the number of species that could be observed during the prime migration time. Based at Beidaihe, there was a 4 day excursion to the Happy Island area, with other trips to Old Peak and the Great Wall. Whilst in Beijing, visits were also made to Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace.
Species in the DVD include Siberian Blue Robin, Siberian Rubythroat, Siberian Thrush, White's Thrush, Lanceolated Warbler, Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler, Naumann's Thrush, Dusky Thrush, Red-throated Thrush, Eyebrowed Thrush, Yellow-rumped Flycatcher, Mugimaki Flycatcher, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Brown Shrike, Long-toed Stint, Greater and Lesser Sand Plover, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Red-necked Stint - and many more.
