This 2-disc DVD set is a video diary of a bird watching holiday in Thailand taken during the period January 4th-18th 2018. Arrangements were by Ribble Bird Tours of Blackpool with local guiding by 'Tony Eagle-eye' of Thailand Bird Watching. The group flew from Manchester to Bangkok, via Abu Dhabi.
Birding started in the south of Thailand with both Spoon-billed Sandpiper and Nordmann's Greenshank quickly added to the list at the Pak Thale site. Red-necked Stint, Greater & Lesser Sandplover, Asian Dowitcher and Broad- billed Sandpiper were amongst other species also seen at this location. Several well known birding locations were then visited as we headed north, including Kaen Krachan National Park, Khao Yai National Park, Mae Wong National Park, Chiang Dao sanctuary, Doi Inthanon National Park, etc.
Species encountered included Mrs Hume's Pheasant, Kalij Pheasant, Siberian Rubythroat, Coppersmith Barbet, Rusty-cheeked Scimitar Babbler, Hill Blue Flycatcher, Scaly-breasted Partridge, Common Green Magpie, Flavescent Bulbul, Rufous-gorgeted Flycatcher, Greater & Lesser-necklaced Laughingthrush - and many more.
The aim of the DVD is to provide the viewer and potential visiting birder to Thailand a flavour of a typical birding tour of the country on a tight schedule. This includes footage filmed in variable weather conditions and sometimes in low light at dawn, while some of the less cooperative species are included for record purposes.
Approximate running time - 2 hours and 48 minutes
