This 2 disc DVD set is a video diary of a birding trip to California in the month of September.
Arrangements were by Birdfinders of Dorset and the tour leaders were James Smith and Peter Basterfield. In the USA California is second to only Texas in the number of species recorded. Early autumn is an excellent time to visit as many of the summer visitors are still present, migrants from further north are passing through and seabirds are at their most diverse. The scenery is magnificent, particularly in the area of Yosemite NP and along the Pacific coast. The tour included a visit to the island of Santa Cruz for the endemic Island Scrub-jay, plus a pelagic out of Monterey from which we saw vast numbers of sea birds, as well as cetaceans.
