Slovenia is one of the smallest countries in central Europe and offers a rich variety of habitats and landscapes including snow-capped mountains, mature mixed woodland, grassy meadows, marshes, rivers and lakes. It is also home to an impressive list of birds, including some real gems - Pygmy Owl, Snow Finch, Alpine Accentor, Alpine Chough, Rock Thrush, Pygmy Cormorant and Rock Bunting to name a few. Steve made four short trips to the country in the Spring, Summer and Autumn and saw some fantastic birds, although not all of them were easy to find. You have to work hard for some species but the results are worth it!
